Former Banner editor dies

WEATHERFORD — Longtime Duncan Banner Managing Editor Larry Gittings died Thursday morning of an apparent heat attack while working at the Weatherford Daily News.

Gittings was 57. He leaves behind a son, Brian.

Gittings was the managing editor of the Weatherford Daily News at the time of his death.

Gittings worked at The Duncan Banner from August of 1981 until September of 1998.

He graduated from Grandfield High School in 1968, and graduated from Oklahoma State in 1972.

Through his career, Gittings works at the Wichita Falls Record News, the Frederick Daily Leader, the Graham Leader and the Gainsville Daily Register before coming to The Banner.
