Women gather to pray for leaders, schools, families

DUNCAN — The 6th annual Women’s Prayer Dinner — Prayer and Politics 2013, took place on the third Thursday of September. The women gather yearly, on this day, to pray for the country and its leaders. This year, 18 women attended the event. Among them, keynote speaker, State Representative Pam Peterson, the first woman Majority Floor Leader. She was introduced by Rep. Ann Coody.

There was representation from the military, schools, the judicial system, and for marriages and families. The women were, (with the branch they were praying for) Mona Morales, wife of Army Major Morales, military; Marla Hicks, wife of Stephens County District Attorney Jason Hicks, U.S. Attorney General and Supreme Court Judges; Rosslyn Biggs, wife of Rep. Scott Biggs, for House of Representatives; Vicki Davison, superintendent of Empire Public Schools, for schools; Leah Miller, mother of two and wife of Dr. Che Miller, for marriages and families; Cleta Malone, for Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women; Susie Dake, Eagle Forum speaker; Bunny Chambers, Eagle Forum president.

Delois Farris provided the opening prayer, Glenda Hobbs was the organizer, Cindy Hale was the program master of ceremonies and Betty Smith was prayer master of ceremonies.

Taking part in the event also were Sonya Akers, Sandy Maxwell and Jennifer Barrington.
