Letter to the Editor:

Marlow police lack professionalism

DUNCAN — As a retired Probation and Parole Officer with over 20 years of law enforcement experience, I have never seen a police department with such shameful professionalism as the Marlow Police Dept. I am caring for my brother’s home in Marlow.

Last week when I went to check on my brother’s home, the bedroom window was smashed in with a brick and the back door was open. I called 911 to report that the house had been burglarized.

[An officer] came to take the report of the stolen items to include my brother’s AKC registered German Sheppard. I requested that the officer dust the house for finger prints and his reply was, “We’ll probably only find his girl friends prints.” No finger prints were taken. When I spoke with my brother’s neighbor, who called the police when she heard the window being broken, said the response she received from Marlow PD was, “It’s probably his brother (me) trying to get into the house.” No one from the police department would come out to take a report from my brother’s neighbor. I have made a formal complaint to Janice Cain, Marlow City Manager over a week ago with other complaints about my tragic experiences with the Marlow PD, and have as yet to hear from her.

My ire is directly toward Jimmy Williams the new Chief for allowing such flagrant incompetence and sub-standard police practices to continue in Marlow. The honest and hard working citizens of Marlow deserve a more professional City Manager and Chief of Police.

Preston Williams
