The First Bank & Trust Duncan/Texhoma Open concluded Sunday with the boys’ 18 division.

Sunday, Melanie Barnes beat Bailey Brown of Edmond, 6-0, 6-1. In the consolation finals, Monica Davis of Norman beat Mattie Gattenby, 76-2, 2-6, 7-6.

“It was a good turnout,” tournament organizer Phil Barnes said. “We had 55 or 60 kids enter. We’ve had bigger and we’ve had smaller ones.”

Kate LeValley of Duncan topped Nichole Stange of Altus, 6-2, 6-3 in the finals of 16 singles. LeValley beat Haley Hartzell, 6-1, 6-1, while Stange took a 6-2, 6-3 decision from Kelsey LeValley. Shauana Beach out of Oklahoma City won the consolation finals, 7-6, 6-3, over Alyssa Rue of Duncan.

“Kate played well,” Barnes said. “She won 16s and pretty much dominated.”

In a round robin format, Edmond’s Elisabeth Hillis took first place in the girls’ 12 singles. Hillis beat Duncan’s Marisa Moore, 6-0, 6-0, and Sydney Hendricks, also from Duncan, 6-3, 6-1. Hendricks topped Moore, 6-2, 6-1.

Sibling rivalry took center court in 14 singles, as Duncan’ Britton Scott took on sister Brooklyn Scott. Britton came away with a 6-2, 6-0 win. Brooklyn got to the finals with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Duncan’s Kaitlyn Loafman, while Britton beat Samantha Cassidy of Duncan, 6-2, 6-1. Abby Bredy and Autumn Gordon, both of Duncan, squared off in the consolation finals with Autumn Gordon beating Angel Gordon coming out on top (6-3, 6-3).

In boys’ action, Duncan’s Brennan Dehart lost the opening set of his finals match with Mason Myers of Moore, 6-4, but rallied to win the last two sets, 6-1, 7-5. Noah Jones of Duncan won the consolation finals by injury default over Duncan’s John Bredy, after Jones won the first set 6-0, and was up 4-1 in the second.

Alexander Yozzo of Ponca City won 14 singles with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 win over Edmond’s Griffin Hullender. Duncan’s Spencer Pearson got by Lawton’s Justin Bailey, 6-4, 6-4, in the consolation finals.

Jonathan Kraft of Oklahoma City won out in 16 singles with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Chris Marrs of Norman. Marrs beat Nic Zinn of Duncan in the semifinals, 6-2, 6-1, while Kraft topped Duncan’s Davis Loafman, 6-4, 6-0. Duncan’s Kolton Burge won the consolation bracket, taking a 6-3, 6-3 decision from Bryan Young of Duncan.

“Davis and Nic played well to make it to the semifinals,” Barnes said. “They took positive steps.”

Jacob Sargent of Washington won the 18 singles with a 4 and 2 win over Skyler Evans of Owasso.
