Christians Concerned to distribute Easter baskets

DUNCAN — The days leading to Easter will be a bit more special for families using Christians Concerned.

Christians Concerned and Duncan Toy Shop teamed up during the past two weeks to put together Easter baskets to hand out to the children of Christians Concerned customers. Those getting food this week from the non-profit organization will receive an Easter basket for their children.

As of Friday, more than 90 baskets had been put together with plans to make more. Last year, the organizations created 95 baskets that were distributed throughout the week leading to Easter.

“We had a few people donate money to help us out,” volunteer Connie Roebuck said about the project.

This is a project Christians Concerned started last year as a way to remember the holiday, while giving even more to those in need. The baskets are being distributed to those using the service this week.

Volunteers from Christians Concerned and Toy Shop having been putting candy, toys and other goodies in each basket. And with Easter coming Sunday, Christians Concerned will recognize Holy Week by giving even more.

Roebuck said it’s important to remember those in need. By giving baskets to those who are also getting food, it make sure the baskets are going to those who need them most.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
