Ray of Hope

Sunday services begin with a variety of morning classes for all ages followed by children’s church and morning worship. Pastor Mike McCord will be continuing the series, “Jesus Facing The Cross.” 

Sunday evening worship services meet in the main sanctuary with specialized services for Breakthrough youth, Elevate youth, KidZone and Faith Roots.

On Wednesdays, ministry for the entire family begins with a meal at 6 p.m. and services at 7 p.m. Adults meet in the sanctuary for Bible study. Overcomer’s Outreach, Grief Support, Heart to Heart women’s group and choir are also available. Nursery and pre-school classes are provided for all services.

Young at Heart Connect will be at 6 p.m. Saturday.  Breakthrough and Elevate Youth will be hosting a Parents Banquet – come There will be two morning Easter services Sunday, March 31.

Heritage Oaks Church of the Nazarene

Heritage Oaks will be hosting an Easter egg hunt from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 30 at the church. Enjoy an egg hunt, lesson, family fun and free food.

Gospel Beams

Dr. Larry Martin will be speaking at the Gospel Beams Church March 24-27. Dr. Martin is from the Comanche/Duncan area and has grown into a world-wide missionary. He just recently returned from a mission trip to Ethiopia where there were over 7,000 in attendance. 

There is no charge for these speaking events which will be11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and March 25-27 @ 7 p.m. nightly.

This Palm Sunday, Larry Martin will be minstering in both the morning and evening services. For more information, call 580-255-8031.

 

Lakeside Baptist

Lakeside Baptist Church will have a potluck lunch after this Sunday morning service. A revival at the church will run March 24-27.

Monday through Wednesday services start at 7 p.m. Keith Wiginton Jr. will preach, Allen Moore will provide music Sunday morning, Lynn Walker and the Triple Cross Band from Chickasha will provide music Sunday evening. Music Monday-Wednesday will be provided by David Petete.

  • Smart Start2.jpg Smart Start gives Head Start gift of books

    To give children an edge, a headstart, Stephens County Smart Start used grant funds it received from Cotton Electric to purchase books for area Delta Head Start children.
    In fact, Smart Start received $750 to purchase books to supply all pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children with books. On Friday, Delta Head Start children at Irving Pre-Kindergarten were given two books through the grant program.

    On January 1, at 5:08 am, the new year’s first baby at Duncan Regional Hospital came into the world. A beautiful baby boy, Cooper Grady, was born to Pete and Amanda Cisneros of Duncan. Baby and mom were presented a gift basket from the DRH Auxiliary Gift Shop for being the first baby born.

  • 1-5 Top 10 5.jpg 2013 featured ups and downs for Stephens County

    For the Duncan and Stephens County area, 2012 was a year of progress and community deconstruction.
    This year’s top story even managed to draw national attention, bringing news media from Australia. Chris Lane, 22, an Australian native, was shot and killed Aug. 16, while he was out for a run near Country Club Road and Twilight Beach.
    In the days following, three teenage Duncan boys were arrested for Lane’s murder. Initially, Chancey Allen Luna, 16, and James Francis Edwards Jr., 16, were charged as adults, facing first-degree murder, and a third teen Michael Dewayne Jones was charged as a youthful offender to accessory to murder. In November, Jones, 17, was recharged as an adult facing first-degree murder.

    More than 100 spots on the Tree of Remembrance had been purchased by Tuesday night, when the annual reception for the fundraiser was held.
    Proceeds go to help pay for care terminal patients and their families receive from Chisholm Trail Hospice.

  • Snow6 0208 Winter weather continues

    Temperatures dropped to 10 degrees. Freezing rain and snow fell, covering roads and yards. Through all of it, one thing was certain: Winter weather had come to Duncan.
    In fact, about 0.23 inches of precipitation fell between 10:30 a.m. Thursday and about 9 a.m. Friday. By Friday afternoon, snow drifts ranged from about 2 inches up to 4 inches. And high temperatures leveled out at 25 degrees.
