DA Hicks releases 911 recording in the case of Chris Lane's murder

DUNCAN — Stephens County District Attorney Jason Hicks released on Tuesday, the 911 recording of the emergency call for help made by Joyce Smith of Duncan.

Smith was driving by and saw Christopher Lane stagger across the road before collapsing. Other individuals joined her to assist.

The call is 7 minutes and 17 seconds long.

Discretion is advised because of the content. There is no profanity, but the call does provide a chilling account of Lane’s final moments.

The 911 call came in at 2:57 p.m. Lane, 22, of Melbourne, Australia, was pronounced dead at Duncan Regional Hospital at 3:47 p.m.
