Duncan doctor held in shooting

DUNCAN — Prosecutors charged a Duncan physician today for allegedly shooting a man police believe is the boyfriend of the doctor’s ex-wife. The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Oscar Morales Jr., 54, was charged with a felony count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, which can carry a sentence of up to life in prison. Morales was expected to be arraigned later today.

Police said Morales was arrested shortly after the shooting was reported around 9:49 p.m. Sunday in the driveway of 2901 Timber Ridge, said Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford.
