List of Moore deceased released

MOORE, Okla. — Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office released today, the confirmed and unconfirmed list of fatalities.

The release was issued by the Office of Governor Mary Fallin with this statement:

 Our hearts go out to all the people affected by this tragedy. 24 deceased victims of the tornado have been transported to the OCME facility in Oklahoma City, and the official confirmed number of deaths stands now at 24. The deceased included 10 children and 14 adults. Of the 10 children, 7 were killed in the Plaza Towers Elementary School. The ME staff worked throughout the night and yesterday in coordination with state and federal agencies to identify victims and document injuries. Of the 24 confirmed fatalities, all but 1 are now positively identified and are ready for return to their families. All the children have been positively identified.  Eight persons (with one unidentified) have not yet had next-of-kin notification. The individuals of the unknown ages are adults.

Janae Hornsby, 9, black female.

Sydney Angle, 9, white female.

Emily Conatzer, 9, white female.

Nicolas McCabe, 9, white male.

Christopher Legg, 9, white male.

Cindy Plumley, age unknown, white female.

Deanna Ward, age unknown, white female.

The following individuals are listed by the State Medical Examiner’s office as:

Awaiting proof of NOK notification, 41, white male.

The released list also contained other information, including the preliminary cause of death. Some of those were listed as mechanical asphyxiation, which refers to suffocation in this case, not drowning. Five of the children were listed with that preliminary cause of death.
