Duncan Public Schools has delayed the running of school buses until the second cell of the storm passes.
Superintendent Sherry Labyer said the schools are keeping students on each campus to ensure their safety.
“We’re not releasing them to buses,” Labyer said. “Parents can pick them up.”
She said the weather came in around the busiest time of the day, especially at the high school. She said many students were at a scholarship assembly, while others were at athletics or various other seventh hour activities.
“Seventh hour is a busy hour for us,” Labyer said. “We’re working to keep the high school students contained.”
Additionally, Central Office and Mark Twain have also lost electricity, along with other Duncan Power customers. Labyer said Central Office is keeping in contact with the schools via cell phones.
