DUNCAN — People at Denver International Airport are taking shelter, and there are unconfirmed reports that a tornado touched down at Denver International Airport.

Duncan High School 2013 graduate Jamie Carberry said she has taken cover, along with other passengers, in a stairwell. Carberry was waiting to board her plane to return home to Duncan today, when the sirens sounded.

No other details are available at this time, but Carberry said her uncle, has told her the clouds are spinning overhead. Carberry had just went through the security checkpoint, so she could not reunite with her uncle at that time.

Several areas of Colorado are under warnings. Tornados near Denver do not happen frequently.

The Banner will update when more information becomes available.
