DUNCAN — With severe weather watches, tornado watches and possibility of warnings being issued this evening, First Baptist Church of Duncan has cancelled evening services and activities today, said Floyd Wininger, office administrative assistant.

The Banner has also checked with numerous area churches and the only other church that appears to be cancelling services, is Immaculate Conception in Marlow.

A check with Immanuel Baptist Church in Duncan also revealed they will remain open.

“We have places we can stick people. No we are not closing. We will still have dinner at 5:15 and of course, it is at their discretion if they come,” said IBC Office Manager Dana Pruitt.

Other churches that have said service will continue are  Ray of Hope, First Christian Church, Assumption Catholic in Duncan, New Hope and First United Methodist Church.

FCC has a basement for protection of their members should a tornado warning be issued.

The public is advised to remain alert during this evening. The Banner will post breaking news should it happen. If you have a cancellation for tonight, please call our news desk at 580-255-5354, Ext. 132 or 143.
