Two men drowned in separate incidents Friday evening at Waurika Lake. The body of one man, age 41, was recovered by Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Dive Team. A time of that drowning and recovery hasn’t been released to The Banner yet.
Jefferson County Emergency Management also confirmed the second drowning that involved an 18 year old Hispanic male around 7 p.m. According to JCEM‘s Public Information Officer Rene‘ Spradlin, two priests from Duncan met JCEM personnel in Addington and were escorted to the scene. Family members were also contacted. OHP had already left the lake, suspending any night searches. The family of the young man chose to remain at the lake.
No identities have been released and The Banner will withhold that information until OHP confirms the identities of the two men.
