No. 3 Central High boys Record: (7-4), coming off a 71-60 loss at Elmore City-Pernell. Stength: Speeding up the game — The Bronchos use their speed to get out on the fastbreak and beat slower teams up the court. Seniors John Repp and Kevin Harris are both capable of 20-plus points a night when they’re contorting their bodies in between defenders to finish layups. Weakness: Slowing it down — Central High can grab the lead early, but holding onto it late is another thing. The Bronchos tried to slow the tempo against Velma-Alma in the Black Diamond final and it back-fired on them. Being able to run the clock and control the game has been a recent emphasis from coach John Nease. Player to Watch: sophomore Ian Hickman — Repp and Harris can score, but the starting point guard’s return from his second ankle injury helps the team manage the game even better. First-round matchup: vs. No. 6 Ryan on Tuesday at 6:20 p.m.
