WAURIKA — Ending a rescue operation that began Saturday evening at Waurika Lake, Oklahoma Highway Patrol rescue personnel discovered the body of a young Roff boy at about 11:30 a.m. today.

OHP has not released full details of the drowning and recovery, but the boy is believed to be 10 to 12 years old. Swimming with family members early Saturday evening, at one point the boy submerged and failed to return to the surface. His parents and family members searched the area and contacted emergency personnel.

Along with the OHP and its lake rescue boat, personnel from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Waurika City Police began a search Saturday night that continued all day Sunday and Monday.
