Bob and Anita Bumgarner celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 15, 2011, with a private trip with their family to Arlington, Texas. Earlier in the summer they enjoyed  a cruise to the Bahamas and Key West with family and friends.

Bob Bumgarner and Anita Gibson exchanged wedding vows on Sept. 15, 1961, in the East Main Church of Christ in Davis. They have resided in Davis, Lindsay, Marlow and Duncan.

Mr. Bumgarner was a licensed surveyor for the Department of Agriculture in Davis, Lindsay and Marlow field offices. He completed his federal career with the Department of Army, Fort Sill as a labor relations specialist upon retirement in 1992. He served as a member of the Arbuckle Memorial Hospital Board and on the Davis City Council. Bumgarner also farmed and raised cattle the majority of his life.

Mrs. Bumgarner was a bookkeeper at the Community Bank in Sulpher, the American National Bank in Ardmore, and the American Exchange Bank in Lindsay. She was a librarian at Marlow Elementary School. Upon completing her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, she taught kindergarten through fourth grades at Marlow and Davis elementaries until her retirement in 2000. She is a member of the Gleaners in the Stephens County OHCE.

Both were members of the Church of Christ in Davis, Marlow and Sulphur. They now attend the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ in Duncan, where they volunteer with the Compassion Clinic and Food Bank. They enjoy attending their grandchildren’s academic and sports activities.

The couple has one son, John, a daughter-in-law, Monica, and two grandchildren, Joshua Evan, 11, and Marissa Anne, 7, all of Duncan.
